The already-exciting Nissan Altima just got better. The automaker has unveiled the overhauled 2016 Nissan Altima, and although it’s technically just a mid-cycle refresh, the updates are significant, and worthwhile.
The current generation Nissan Altima is just three years old, and automakers typically try to get at least five years from a generation, before unveiling an all-new version. A mid-cycle refresh typically consists of a few styling updates, and maybe some new technology. The Altima took it a step further, offering a new look, improved efficiency, new driving feel, and a wide range of new connectivity, safety, and convenience features.
“Despite the remarkable success of the current model Altima in the marketplace, which has seen a more than 60 percent increase in sales since 2009, no area was left untouched in redesigning our cornerstone Altima sedan for the 2016 model year,” said Pierre Loing, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. in a statement. “While so much attention in the marketplace currently is focused on compact SUVs like our redesigned Nissan Rogue, the mid-size sedan segment remains strong and has become extremely competitive. We’re determined to keep our sales growth alive with this vibrant new Altima for 2016.”
The 2016 Nissan Altima’s updates were made with input from current Nissan Altima customers. The new Altima promises to deliver a quieter ride, more standard features, more personal style, and a more responsive driving experience.
