Buying a new car may not be an option for all drivers, especially if some dealerships require a lot of money up front. Fortunately, the modern market has two perfectly viable financing options that will likely meet the needs of most, if not all, drivers. Below you’ll find a comparison of direct lending versus dealership lending from our team here at Nissan of Silsbee.
Buyers interested in direct lending will receive a loan directly from a financial institution, like a bank or credit union. Once approved, drivers use the loan to pay the dealership for the vehicle.
Choosing to go the way of direct lending will allow customers to compare several lenders before committing to a contract. Comparing credit terms and contracts can allow buyers to get a better deal in the long run.
Those who choose dealership lending will receive financing from the dealership directly. Like with direct lending, buyers enter a contract and use the loan to pay for the vehicle. The dealership can then sell or retain the contract.
Dealership lending offers on-site financing, which makes it more convenient. Some dealerships offer multiple financing options thanks to close relationships with financial institutions. Automotive manufacturers also offer special financing programs through dealerships, meaning buyers could find the best deal right at the dealership.

Nissan’s Nismo performance division isn’t exactly a secret, especially for enthusiasts who tend to rave about high-performance models of their favorite commuter cars. Nissan is looking to do fans a major favor. While Nismo has been fairly quiet over the past, it looks like things are going to be revving up in the near future.
New Nissan Nismo models are in the works, following the formation of the Nismo Cars Business Department. The new department will function to gather resources through Nissan Motorsports, among other groups that fall under the Nissan umbrella. The end result will be more Nismo models rolling off the line sooner rather than later.
Some of the most recent Nismo models include the Sentra and Juke. While the Sentra saw performance tweaks in the suspension, the Juke received a more powerful engine under the hood. Notably, there aren’t Nismo models of the Nissan Altima and Rogue, two of the most popular vehicles in the industry, let alone the brand lineup.
While Nismo models currently only see around 15,000 units sold each year, more fan-favorite models will almost certainly appeal to the enthusiast within the average driver. Additional styling and performance updates are bound to help land more Nismo badges on the road too.
We here at Nissan of Silsbee can’t help but be excited for the arrival of new Nissan Nismo models!
Looking for a little pick-me-up after a long winter? It might be time to spring clean your vehicle for a like-new driving experience. At Nissan of Silsbee, we’re firm believers in taking good care of our cars, so we’ve compiled a list of tips for the ultimate automotive spring cleaning experience.
Carpet and upholstery
Start by clearing any debris off the seats and floors. Use a vacuum to get the little pieces of dirt and dust in the crevices. Take out the floor mats and spray them with stain remover before scrubbing them down. While those are drying, you can use a damp towel to wipe down your seats.
Clean windows aren’t just important for aesthetic reasons; having clean windows also does wonders for visibility, which is important for your safety, especially during a rainy spring. Wash your windows and windshield thoroughly with glass cleaner. Top off the windshield with Rain-X for extra weather protection. Replacing your wipers every spring is a good idea, but an alternative is to wipe them down with rubbing alcohol to prevent streaks on the windshield.
It’s important to give your vehicle a good exterior scrub after a long winter. Grime like road salt builds up over the cold months and can linger underneath the vehicle and cause corrosion or rusting. Give your car a bath with a pressure washer and be sure to get that underside. Finish it off with a layer of protective wax that will keep your car’s exterior looking fresh well into next winter.
It’s finally that time of year, when you plan a week away from life’s usual routines and spend it with family and friends. Whether you live in the Lone Star State or not, it’s worth noting that there are plenty of great options for spring break in Texas. Here are some of our favorites.
Dinosaur Valley State Park
Dinosaur fans – and even just those who can’t get enough of Jurassic Park – will be into a visit to this state park in Glen Rose. Look for dinosaur tracks left behind along Paluxy River, a reminder of prehistoric times. Beautiful nature and fresh air make this park a spring break winner.
Six Flags Over Texas
Who doesn’t like the thrill of a coaster or the view from a high ride? Six Flags Over Texas offers everything, from gentle thrills to heart-pumping rides not for the faint of heart. This Arlington, Texas amusement park is a great location for a short spring break getaway.

Nissan brought its best game to the Chicago Auto Show recently, putting a ton of effort into a slew of production models, debut models, and cool new announcements to boost anticipation for upcoming vehicles. The Nissan model lineup impressed with a variety of cool new features and options.
Nissan attracted some attention with a few cool concepts: the NV Cargo X, an unusual take on commercial cargo vans that gives it a ground clearance boost and off-road capabilities, and the Rogue One: Star Wars model. The NV Cargo X was built in collaboration with Ian Johnson of “X-Treme Off-Road,” while the Rogue One, which was designed to look like a Rebel starfighter, was a nice nod towards the Nissan Rogue’s “Rogue One” campaign last fall.
A few vehicles also made their debut, like the 2017 model years for the Pathfinder, Rogue Sport, and Titan. The 2017 Titan will even include a new King Cab body configuration in its model lineup, with seating for six and an optional rear-seat delete option. Nissan also revealed it would be extending its Midnight Edition package to six additional models.
The Nissan model lineup at the Chicago Auto Show wowed fans and experts alike, and we’re excited to see some of the new models and features. Visit us at Nissan of Silsbee to learn more about the impressive Nissan lineup!

Filling tires with air is one of the easiest DIY maintenance tasks for your car, and it’s also one of the most important, especially during the winter. Cold air reduces your tire pressure, which makes your tires have worse traction, so they’ll slip more easily in wet and icy conditions. Follow these easy steps to filling your tires with air.
First, check your owner’s manual to determine what the proper PSI for your car’s tires is. Then use a pressure gauge to find out the pressure in each of your four tires. Locate the valve stem in the rim of the wheel, take off the cap, and push the tip off the gauge into the stem. If the number it reads is lower than your suggested PSI, add air to the tire.
Many gas stations have a spot where you can fill your tires with air if you don’t feel like buying your own automatic or manual air pump. Just make sure you bring lots of quarters. Park near the air pump and take the caps off all the valve stems, but don’t lose them!
Then, just like checking the pressure with the gauge, push the tip of the hose into the valve stem and fill the tire with air, stopping periodically to read the pressure again. Once your tire is at the appropriate pressure, replace the valve stem cap. Repeat with the other tires as needed.
The 2017 KBB Best Resale Value Award in the full-size car segment has gone to the new Nissan Maxima. Kelley Blue Book determines the winners of the Resale Value Awards based on how much of the value they’ll retain over the first five years, based on the KBB Official Residual Value Guide.
Kelley Blue Book presented the Resale Value Awards at the National Automobile Dealers Association Convention, which took place at the end of January this year. KBB recognized the eighth-generation Maxima for its revised styling and upgrades, including standard Apple CarPlay and two new packages in addition to the previously available Midnight Edition.
The 2017 Nissan Maxima will be available in five trim levels and will start at $32,610. With an excellent rating on KBB.com and an amazing 42.8% of its value kept after 3 years, the new Maxima is already one of the highest rated vehicles in the full-size segment.
KBB commented on the Maxima’s exceptional interior, which was also redesigned for the new model year, with highlights like the leather-covered seats and Zero Gravity power-adjustable seats. The new Maxima’s exceptional quality inside and out led KBB to choose it as their Best Resale Value Award segment winner.
For many people, their car is one of their most important possessions. Unfortunately, cars are also a very expensive possession. That’s why it’s important for people to learn how to complete basic car maintenance. Here are just a few things that you can do to save yourself some money.
Learn How to Detail
Since many people spend a lot of time in their cars each day, it makes sense that they get dirty fast. While you can take your car to a professional to have it detailed, it saves you considerable cash to just do it on your own.
Checking Fluids And Tire Pressure
This is one of the easiest things you can do to maintain your car. It requires essentially no technical skills and not checking fluids can lead to thousands of dollars worth of damage. All that you have to do is keep a regular schedule and ensure both the fluids and pressure are in check.
Not many people remember to check the various filters in their cars, but it’s an easy task that doesn’t require very much technical knowledge. As long as you are able to read a manual to locate the filters in your car, you can change them yourself.
If you take care of these simple steps, you will save yourself hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.
Everyone knows that living in Texas isn’t exactly conducive to keeping a clean car. That’s why it’s important to take matters into your own hands. Here’s how to detail your car like a pro without spending a bunch of money.
Your first step is to get an air compressor. Starting with the corners and cracks of your car, blow the dirt into the middle of your car. Once you’re finished with the edges of your car, turn the air compressor on the vents. Finally, vacuum everything off of the floor and seats of the car.
Now that the interior of your car is clean, move to the exterior. Before washing your car, check the soap that you are using to ensure that it is not acidic. If you use the wrong type of soap, it eats away at the protective layer on your paint and rims. Instead, use a soap that is specifically designed for cleaning cars.
Once you’ve ensured that you are using the proper soap, begin washing the top of your car. If you begin on the bottom, you will eventually have dirty water running down your clean spaces when you wash the top of the car.
Now that you know how to detail your car like a pro, you never have to pay someone else to do it again!
